Pre Lessons
Before you can take lessons, you will need to apply for your provisional licence. The forms are available from the Post Office.
The driving test is taken in two parts - the theory test and the practical test.
The theory test consists of 50 multiple choice questions and includes the Hazard Perception Test, video clips of real driving situations containing potential and real hazards.
Although the theory of driving will be covered during the lessons, you will need to do your own individual study, using the Highway Code, a theory book plus a book, CD ROM or DVD on Hazard Perception to enable you not only to pass the test but to learn the rules of the road.
Once you have successfully passed the theory test, the next stage is the practical driving test. This test lasts for approximately 40 minutes during which time you will be expected to carry out two manoeuvres and demonstrate to the Examiner capable, intelligent and safe driving skills.
